The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Zubayr on the day of Yarmouk, "Will you not charge so that we may charge with you?"He replied, "If I charge, you will fail to follow through."They said, "We will not do that."So he charged at the enemy until he split through their ranks and passed beyond them, with no one accompanying him. Then he turned back, and they seized his bridle and struck him twice on his shoulder, with the scar of a blow he had received on the day of Badr lying between the two new wounds.Urwa said, "I used to put my fingers into those sword cuts and play with them when I was a small child."Urwa also said that Abdullah bin Zubayr was with him that day, being ten years old at the time, so Zubayr mounted him on a horse and assigned a man to look after him.
