Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who will bring me news of the enemy on the Day of the Confederates?"Zubayr replied, "I will."Then he asked again, "Who will bring me news of the enemy?"Zubayr replied, "I will."So the Prophet ﷺ said, "Every prophet has a disciple, and my disciple is Zubayr."

Commentary

Zia-ur-Rahman Azami

Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad (2846) and in the Book of Military Expeditions (4113), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (2415-48), both of them through the route of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who said, and then he related it. The wording given is Bukhari's, and Muslim's wording is similar to it.His saying, "Who will bring me news of the people," means news of Banu Qurayza regarding their breaking of the covenant. As for the story of Huzaifa رضي الله عنه , it concerned news of Quraysh, and it took place on a night of severe cold.
