Uthman bin Affan came to the Prophet ﷺ with a thousand dinars in his garment when the Prophet ﷺ was equipping the army of hardship. He poured them into the lap of the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ began turning them over with his hand, saying, "Nothing Ibn Affan does after this day will harm him." He repeated it several times.
جاء عثمان بن عفان إلى النبي ﷺ بألف دينار في ثوبه حين جهز النبي ﷺ جيش العسرة، قال: فصبها في حجر النبي ﷺ، فجعل النبي ﷺ و يقلبها بيده ويقول: ما ضر ابن عفان ما عمل بعد اليوم، يرددها مرارا.
It was narrated by Tirmidhi (3701), Ahmad (20630), Ibn Abu Asim in al-Jihad (82), and Hakim (3/102), all from the hadith of Damra bin Rabia, from Abdullah bin Shawzab, from Abdullah bin Qasim, from Kathir, the freedman of Abdul-Rahman bin Samura, from Abdul-Rahman bin Samura, who then narrated it.Its isnad is hasan because of Kathir bin Abu Kathir, the freedman of Ibn Samura, for his hadith is hasan. Many narrators transmitted from him, and Ajli and Ibn Hibban both deemed him trustworthy, and its basis is confirmed in the Sahih. Otherwise, he is "acceptable" as stated in Taqrib.
