The Prophet ﷺ said, "The evil eye is real. If anything were to outrun destiny, it would be the evil eye. And when you are asked to wash, then wash."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: العين حق، ولو كان شيء سابق القدر سبقته العين، وإذا استغسلتم فاغسلوا.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Salam (2188) through several routes from Muslim bin Ibrahim, who said, Wahib narrated to us, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned similarly.
