A young woman passed by me in Madinah, so I grabbed her by the waist.The next morning, the Messenger, meaning the Prophet ﷺ, was taking the people's pledge of allegiance. I came to him, but he refused to take my pledge and said, "The one who grabbed!"I said, "By Allah, I will never do it again."So he took my pledge.
مرت بي جارية بالمدينة فأخذت بكشحها قال: وأصبح الرسول يبايع الناس- يعني النبي ﷺ قال: فأتيته، فلم يبايعني، فقال: صاحب الجبذة! قال: قلت: والله لا أعود، قال: فبايعني.
Narrated by Nasai in Kubra (7288) and Ahmad (22511), and Hakim declared it sahih (4/377), all of them through the route of Aswad bin Amir Shazan, who said, Hurayim bin Sufyan narrated to us, from Bayan bin Bishr Ahmasi, from Qays bin Abu Hazim, from Abu Shahm, and he mentioned it. Its chain is sahih.Imam Ahmad also narrated it (22512) from Siraj (that is, Ibn Numan), who said, Yazid bin Ataa narrated to us, from Bayan bin Bishr, from Qays bin Abu Hazim, from Abu Shahm, who said, he was an idle man. He said, a young woman passed by me on one of the roads of Madinah, and I found myself drawn to touching her waist. The next day, he said, the people came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him. So I came to him and stretched out my hand to pledge allegiance, but he withdrew his hand and said, "Are you not the one who did the grabbing," meaning, "Weren't you the one who did the grabbing yesterday." I said, "Messenger of Allah, accept my pledge, for by Allah I will never do it again." He said, "Then yes."Yazid bin Ataa is Yashkuri, whose hadith is lenient in reliability, but he has been corroborated as shown above. Ibn Hajar mentioned this in Isabah, in the biographical entry on Abu Shahm (12/352), and said, its chain is strong.
