We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition of Tabuk. When we reached Wadi al-Qura, we came upon a garden belonging to a woman. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Estimate its yield." So we estimated it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ estimated it at ten wasqs. He said to her, "Keep count of it until we return to you, Allah willing."Then we set off until we reached Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A violent wind will blow against you tonight, so let none of you stand up in it, and whoever has a camel should tie it firmly." A violent wind did indeed blow, and a man stood up, and the wind carried him until it threw him onto the two mountains of Tayy. The envoy of Ibn al-Ulama, the ruler of Ayla, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a letter and presented him with a white mule. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote back to him and gave him a cloak as a gift. Then we headed back until we reached Wadi al-Qura, where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked the woman about her garden and how much its produce had amounted to.She replied, "Ten wasqs."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am going on ahead quickly. Whoever among you wishes may hurry along with me, and whoever wishes may remain behind."So we set out until we came in sight of Medina, and he said, "This is Tabah, and this is Uhud, a mountain that loves us and we love it." Then he said, "The best of the houses of the Ansar is the house of Banu al-Najjar, then the house of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, then the house of Banu Abd al-Harith bin al-Khazraj, then the house of Banu Saidah. And in every house of the Ansar there is good."Then Saad bin Ubada caught up with us, and Abu Usayd said, "Don't you see that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has ranked the houses of the Ansar and placed us last?" So Saad caught up with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, you ranked the houses of the Ansar and placed us last."He replied, "Is it not enough for you that you are among the best?"
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1481), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Virtues (11:1392), both through the route of Amr bin Yahya, from Abbas bin Sahl Saadi, from Abu Humayd Saadi, who said... and then he related it.His statement, "Then the dwelling of Banu Abdul-Harith bin Khazraj," is an error. The correct wording is "Banu Harith bin Khazraj," as it appears in Bukhari, with the word "Abd" omitted. See Nawawi's commentary on Sahih Muslim.
