I was with Qatada bin Milhan during his final illness when a man passed by at the far end of the house, and I could see his reflection in Qatada's face. Whenever I looked at his face, it was as though it had been polished with oil. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had wiped his hand over his face.
Ahmad narrated it (20317), and Bayhaqi transmitted it through his route in Dalail (6/217), from Arim (that is, Muhammad bin Fadl), who said, Mutamir told us, saying, my father narrated, from Abu Ala bin Umayr, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Haythami said in Majma (71/157), "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih."
