He was asked about the Wurud, and he said, "On the Day of Resurrection we shall be on such-and-such a place," meaning above the rest of the people. He continued, "The nations will be summoned along with their idols and what they used to worship, one after another. Then our Lord will come to us after that and ask, 'Whom are you waiting for?'They will reply, 'We are waiting for our Lord.'He will say, 'I am your Lord.'They will say, 'Not until we look upon You.'So He will reveal Himself to them, smiling."He said, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'Then He will set off and they will follow Him. Every person, hypocrite or believer, will be given a light, and they will follow Him. Over the bridge of Hell are hooks and thorns that snatch whomever Allah wills. Then the light of the hypocrite will be extinguished, and the believers will be delivered. The first group will be saved, their faces like the moon on the night of Badr, seventy thousand who will not be reckoned with. Then those who follow them will be like the brightest star in the sky, then likewise. Then intercession will be permitted until there comes out of the Fire whoever said, "There is no god but Allah," and had in his heart goodness equal to the weight of a barley grain. They will be placed in the courtyard of the people of Paradise, and the people of Paradise will sprinkle water upon them until they sprout like a plant springs up in a flood. Then he will ask, until he is granted the world and ten times its like along with it.'"
أنه سئل عن الورود، فقال: نحن يوم القيامة على كذا وكذا- انظر أي: ذلك فوق الناس- قال: فتدعى الأمم بأوثانها وما كانت تعبد، الأول فالأول، ثم يأتينا ربنا بعد ذلك، فيقول: من تنتظرون؟ فيقولون: ننتظر ربنا. فيقول: أنا ربكم، فيقولون: حتى ننظر إليك، فيتجلى لهم يضحك. قال: سمعت النبي ﷺ قال: فينطلق بهم ويتبعونه، ويعطى كل إنسان منافق أو مؤمن نورا، ثم يتبعونه، وعلى جسر جهنم كلاليب وحسك تأخذ من شاء الله، ثم يطفأ نور المنافق، ينجو المؤمنون، فتنجو أول زمرة وجوههم كالقمر ليلة البدر سبعون ألفا لا يحاسبون ثم الذين يلونهم كأضوإ نجم في السماء، ثم كذلك، ثم تحل الشفاعة حتى يخرج من النار من قال: لا إله إلا الله، وكان في قلبه من الخير ما يزن شعيرة، فيجعلون بفناء أهل الجنة، ويجعل أهل الجنة يرشون عليهم الماء، حتى ينبتوا نبات الشيء في السيل، ثم يسأل حتى يجعل له الدنيا وعشرة أمثالها معها.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (191) through several routes from Rawh bin Ubada, who said, Ibn Jurayj told us, he said, Abu Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah being asked about wurud, and he mentioned it. Imam Ahmad also narrated it through this same route (15115), and this is his wording.Regarding the phrase "such and such, see," this is how it appears in all the copies of Muslim, and it is certainly a corruption. Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said in his commentary on Muslim, "This wording occurs this way in all the manuscripts of Muslim. Both the earlier and later scholars agree that it is a corruption, an alteration, and a confusion in the wording. The scholar Abdul-Haqq said in his book Al-Jam Bayn as-Sahihayn, 'What appears in the book of Muslim here is a mix-up caused by one of the copyists, or however it happened.' Qadi Iyad said, 'This is the form the hadith takes. In the book of Ibn Abu Khaythama, through the route of Kaab bin Malik, it reads, "The people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection upon a hill, and my nation upon a hill." And Tabari mentioned in his tafsir, from the hadith of Ibn Umar, "So he, meaning Muhammad, and his nation will ascend a mound above the people." And he also mentioned, from the hadith of Kaab bin Malik, "The people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, and I and my nation will be upon a hill."'The Qadi said, 'All of this makes clear what was altered in the hadith, and that this word had become obscure to the narrator, or had been effaced, so he expressed it as "such and such," and explained it by saying, that is, "above the people," and wrote next to it "see" as a note of caution. Then the later transmitters gathered all of this together and arranged it as though it were part of the actual text of the hadith, as you can see.'" End of quote.
