The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me, for Satan cannot take on my form."He also said, "When one of you has a disturbing dream, he should not tell anyone about Satan's toying with him in his sleep."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من رآني في النوم فقد رآني، إنه لا ينبغي للشيطان أن يتمثل في صورتي، وقال: إذا حلم أحدكم فلا يخبر أحدا بتلعب الشيطان به في المنام.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Dreams (2268-12) through two routes from Layth bin Saad, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, and he mentioned it. In one of his wordings (13), "For it is not fitting for Satan to take on my form." He narrated it from Muhammad bin Hatim, who said, Rawh narrated to us, who said, Zakariya bin Ishaq narrated to us, who said, Abu Zubayr narrated to me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah, and he mentioned it.The meaning of his statement, "he cannot take on my form," is that he cannot resemble me in a form like mine. Fath al-Bari (12/386).
