The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "My Lord has favored me over the other prophets," or he said, "over the other nations, with four things. I have been sent to all of mankind. The whole earth has been made a place of prayer and a means of purification for me and my nation, so wherever a man of my nation finds himself when prayer is due, there is his place of prayer and his means of purification. I have been aided with awe that strikes the hearts of my enemies from a month's journey away. And the spoils of war have been made lawful for us."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: فضلني ربي على الأنبياء-أو قال: على الأمم- بأربع: قال: أرسلت إلى الناس كافة، وجعلت لي الأرض كلها ولأمتي مسجدا وطهورا، فأينما أدركت رجلا من أمتي الصلاة فعنده مسجده، وعنده طهوره، ونصرت بالرعب مسيرة شهر يقذفه في قلوب أعدائي، وأحل لنا الغنائم.
Reported by Imam Ahmad (22137) (22209), Tirmidhi (1553), and Bayhaqi (212/1), (2/433–434) through various routes from Sulayman Taymi, from Sayyar, from Abu Umama, as he related it, and the wording given is Ahmad's. Tirmidhi confined himself to his saying, "Allah has favored me over the prophets, or he said, my nation over the other nations, and He has made spoils of war lawful for us."Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Sayyar, who is the Umawi, their freedman, of Damascus. More than one narrator reported from him, and Ibn Hibban and Ibn Khalfun listed him among the reliable narrators in their books. Tirmidhi graded his hadith hasan, and there will follow from Bukhari's statement something indicating a strengthening of his standing. Tirmidhi said, The hadith of Abu Umama is hasan sahih.He said in Ilal al-Kabir (663/2), I asked Muhammad about this hadith, and I said to him, Who is this Sayyar who reported from Abu Umama? He said, He is Sayyar, the freedman of the sons of Muawiya. He met Abu Umama and reported from him. Those who reported from Sayyar were Sulayman Taymi and Abdullah bin Buhayr, end of quote.Haythami said in Majma (259/8), The narrators of Ahmad are reliable.Ibn Mulaqqin said in Badr Munir (624/2), In the Fawaid of Abu Abdullah Thaqafi, with a sahih chain of transmission, from Abu Umama, he related something similar.
