Bukhari narrated it in "Merits of the Ansar" (3800), from Ahmad bin Yaqub, who said, Ibn Ghasil narrated to us (his name is Abdul-Rahman bin Ghasil, and Ghasil is Hanzala Ansari), I heard Ikrima say, I heard Ibn Abbas say, and he then mentioned it.The word "band" means turban.The word "dusky" refers to something stained with the greasiness of his hair from perfume, and what is meant by it is black.Similar in meaning is what was narrated from Abdullah bin Umar, who said, "When the Prophet ﷺ put on a turban, he would let it hang down between his shoulders." However, this is daif.Tirmidhi narrated it in his Sunan (1736) and in Shamail (110), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (6397), as did Abu Shaykh in Akhlaq Nabi ﷺ (p. 103) and Khatib in his Tarikh (11/293), through various chains from Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad (that is, Darawardi), from Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he then mentioned it.Tirmidhi said, "Hasan gharib."I say, Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad Darawardi's hadith is hasan when he does not contradict others, but here he contradicted them, narrating it from Ubaydullah as a saying of the Prophet, while others narrated it from him as a saying of Ibn Umar himself.Among them is Abu Usama Hammad bin Usama, who stopped it at Ibn Umar and did not raise it to the Prophet. Ibn Abu Shayba narrated it from him (25477). When this hadith was mentioned to Imam Ahmad, he smiled and rejected it, saying, "This is only stopped at Ibn Umar." Duafa Aqeeli (977).Daraqutni said, "Darawardi narrated it from Ubaydullah raised to the Prophet, while others narrated it from Ubaydullah stopped at Ibn Umar, and that is the correct version." Ilal (2969).Nasai said, "Darawardi's hadith from Ubaydullah is rejected."Ahmad also said, "Whatever Darawardi narrated from Ubaydullah is actually from Abdullah bin Umar."
