The seal-ring of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was made of silver, and its stone was Abyssinian. In another narration, its stone was from the ring itself.
كان خاتم رسول الله ﷺ من ورق، وكان فصه حبشيا. وفي رواية: كان فصه منه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Dress (61:2094) from Yahya bin Ayub, who said, Abdullah bin Wahb Misri told us, Yunus bin Yazid informed me, from Ibn Shihab, who said, Anas bin Malik told me, and then he mentioned it.As for the other narration, Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Dress (5870) from Ishaq, who said, Mutamir informed us, saying, I heard Humayd narrating it from Anas in the same manner.Hafiz said, there is no contradiction between the two, because it can either be understood as referring to two separate instances, or it can be said that it was attributed to Abyssinia due to some feature it had, whether in its craftsmanship or its engraving.
