Narrated by Darimi (2170), Tirmidhi in Shamail (315), Ahmad (27115), and Tabarani in al-Kabir (25/127), all of them through the route of Abdul-Kareem Jazari, from Bara the son of the daughter of Anas bin Malik, from Anas bin Malik, from Umm Salim, who related it. The wording given is that of Darimi, and Ahmad and others added, Umm Salim said, "So I went to the mouth of the waterskin and cut it off."Its isnad is hasan because of Bara the son of the daughter of Anas, who is Ibn Zayd Ansari, the grandson of Anas through his daughter. He narrated from his grandfather Anas. Bukhari gave him a biographical entry in Tarikh al-Kabir, as did Ibn Abu Hatim in al-Jarh wal-Tadil, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in al-Thiqat (4/77). Hafiz said in al-Taqrib that he is "acceptable," meaning if corroborated, and indeed he has been corroborated regarding the basic story, for it happened to Kabsha Ansariyyah just as it happened to Umm Salim, the mother of Anas bin Malik.Abdul-Kareem Jazari explicitly stated in some sources that Bara informed him, as is found with Ahmad (12188), where he said, Bara bin Zayd, the son of the daughter of Anas bin Malik, informed me, from Anas bin Malik, that the Prophet ﷺ entered upon Umm Salim in the house... and he related the hadith. He thus placed it among the reports transmitted by Anas, which refutes the claim of those who say that Abdul-Kareem did not hear from Bara. Ahmad then repeated it, mentioning the story again among the reports transmitted by Umm Salim.
