I came in to see the Prophet ﷺ at his house, and he had some of these gourds with him. I asked, "What is this?"He replied, "This is the qara, which is the dubba. We use it to add to our food."
دخلت على النبي ﷺ في بيته وعنده هذه الدباء، فقلت: أي شيء هذا؟ قال: هذا القرع هو الدباء، نكثر به طعامنا.
Ibn Majah (3304), Imam Ahmad (19101), Tirmidhi in Shamail (163), and Nasai in Kubra (6631) all narrated it via Ismail bin Abu Khalid, from Hakeem bin Jabir, from his father, and he related it. Its isnad is sahih, and Jabir here is Ibn Tariq Ahmasi, a companion with few narrations.As for what was narrated from Abu Talut, who said, "I visited Anas bin Malik while he was eating gourd, and he was saying, 'You there, tree, I only love you for the love the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had for you'," this is daif. Tirmidhi (1849) narrated it from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Layth told us, from Muawiya bin Salih, from Abu Talut, who said, and he related it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib hadith from this route." I say, its isnad is daif due to the unknown status of Abu Talut.
