Any servant girl from among the slave girls of the people of Madinah could take the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and lead him wherever she wished.
كانت الأمة من إماء أهل المدينة لتأخذ بيد رسول الله ﷺ، فتنطلق به حيث شاءت.
Bukhari narrated it in Al-Adab (6072), saying, Muhammad bin Isa said, Hushaym told us, Humayd al-Tawil informed us, Anas bin Malik told us, and he related it.Ahmad connected it with a full chain (11941), from Hushaym, Humayd informed us, from Anas, in similar wording, and in it, "so she would take him along for her errand."This shows his ﷺ humility and his freedom from every kind of arrogance. What is meant by taking the hand here is its implication, namely compliance.
