The Prophet ﷺ used to enter the house of Umm Sulaym and sleep on her bed when she was not there. One day he came and slept on her bed. Someone came to her and said, "The Prophet ﷺ is asleep in your house, on your bed."She came and found that he had perspired, his sweat collecting on a piece of leather upon the bed. She opened her container and began to soak up that sweat, squeezing it into her flasks. The Prophet ﷺ woke up startled and asked, "What are you doing, Umm Sulaym?"She replied, "Messenger of Allah, we hope for its blessing for our children."He said, "You have done right."In another narration, Umm Sulaym used to spread out a leather mat for the Prophet ﷺ so he could take his afternoon nap at her home on that mat. When the Prophet ﷺ slept, she would collect his sweat and hair, gathering them in a flask, then mixing them into a perfume called sukk while he slept. When Anas bin Malik was nearing death, he instructed me to place some of that sukk into the burial scent prepared for his body, and so it was done.In another narration, Anas said, the Prophet ﷺ came in to visit us and took a nap with us, and he perspired. My mother brought a flask and began to wipe up the sweat into it. The Prophet ﷺ woke up and asked, "Umm Sulaym, what are you doing?"She said, "This is your sweat. We use it as our perfume, and it is among the finest of fragrances."
