I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when there was not a single man on the face of the earth who had seen him besides me.He was asked, "How did he appear to you?"He replied, "He was fair-skinned, handsome, and of medium build."
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ وما على وجه الأرض رجل رآه غيري قال: فقيل له كيف رأيته؟ قال: كان أبيض مليحا مقصدا.
Muslim narrated it in the Chapter on Virtues (99:2340), from Ubaydullah bin Umar Qawariri, who said, Abdul-Ala bin Abdul-Ala narrated to us, from Jareeri, from Abu Tufayl, and he related it.His saying "muqsadan" is with a fatha on the doubled sad, meaning someone who was neither corpulent nor thin, and neither tall nor short. This hadith indicates that Abu Tufayl was the last of the companions to die, and Muslim stated this explicitly, saying, Abu Tufayl died in the year one hundred, and he was the last of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to die. I say, the fraction has been dropped, for Abu Tufayl actually died in the year 110 AH.
