This is the cloak of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. It was with Ayesha until she passed away, and when she died I took possession of it. The Prophet ﷺ used to wear it, and we wash it for the sick to seek healing through it.
هذه جبة رسول الله ﷺ، كانت عند عائشة حتى قبضت، فلما قبضت قبضتها، وكان النبي ﷺ يلبسها، فنحن نغسلها للمرضى يستشفى بها.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Clothing (2069), from Yahya bin Yahya, who said, Khalid bin Abdullah informed us, from Abdul-Malik, from Abdullah the freed slave of Asma bint Abu Bakr, from Asma bint Abu Bakr, and I mentioned it in a long hadith. In these hadiths and others, which are very numerous and documented in their proper places, there is an explicit statement from the Lawgiver indicating that seeking blessing through the Prophet ﷺ applies in three matters.First, seeking blessing through the person of the Prophet ﷺ himself, such as his noble body, his hand, and his foot.Second, seeking blessing through what emerged or separated from his pure body without being impure, such as sweat, saliva, hair, and the like.Third, seeking blessing through what the Prophet used, such as clothing, bedding, blankets, vessels, and the like.As for seeking blessing through the dust of his grave, his noble chamber, or the doors of his mosque, none of this is legislated, because it has not been established that the Prophet ﷺ commanded it or approved of anyone doing it, just as it has not been established that the companions or the successors sought blessing in this way.As for seeking blessing through the persons of righteous people and their relics, all of this is forbidden, and it leads to shirk against Allah, resembling the practice of the people of pre-Islamic ignorance among whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sent. Among the manifestations of their worship of idols was seeking blessing through them and asking them for supplication in order to obtain blessing in wealth, children, and their own persons. The companions and the successors held to this pure creed drawn from the Book and the sunnah, until the era of the Rafidah came, and they promoted seeking blessing through the persons of their imams and their graves. Some ignorant Muslims picked up these shirk-laden practices from them, and so they built mosques over the graves of their saints and devoted themselves to worship there. It has been established as sahih from the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "Do not turn your houses into graves, and do not turn my grave into a place of festive visitation, and send blessings upon me, for your blessings reach me wherever you are." This is documented in its proper place. For these reasons and others, when Umar bin Khattab learned that people were going to the tree known as the Tree of Ridwan and praying beside it, he threatened them and ordered it cut down, and so it was cut down. Ibn Saad mentioned this in Tabaqat Kubra (2/100).
