Sahl said, A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ with a burdah. Then Sahl asked the people, "Do you know what a burdah is?"The people answered, "It is a shawl."Sahl said, "It is a woven shawl with a fringed border."She said, "Messenger of Allah, I have woven this for you to wear."The Prophet ﷺ took it, as he was in need of it, and put it on. One of the Companions saw him wearing it and said, "Messenger of Allah, how lovely this is. Give it to me to wear."He replied, "Yes."When the Prophet ﷺ got up, his companions reproached the man, saying, "You did not do well. You saw the Prophet ﷺ take it because he needed it, then you asked him for it, knowing full well that he is never asked for something and refuses to give it."He replied, "I hoped for its blessing when the Prophet ﷺ wore it, hoping that I might be shrouded in it."
