Abu Musa Ashari reported,

I was with the Prophet ﷺ when he was staying at al-Jiranah, between Mecca and Medina, and Bilal was with him. An Arabi man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Will you not fulfill for me, Muhammad, what you promised me?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Receive glad tidings."The Arabi replied, "You have said 'receive glad tidings' to me too often."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then turned to Abu Musa and Bilal looking as though he were angry, and said, "This man has rejected the glad tidings, so you two accept them."They said, "We accept them, Messenger of Allah."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for a vessel containing water and washed his hands and face in it and spat into it. Then he said, "Drink from it, and pour some on your faces and chests, and receive glad tidings."So they took the vessel and did what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had commanded them. Umm Salama called out to them from behind the curtain, "Leave some for your mother from what is in your vessel." So they left a portion of it for her.
