The Messenger of Allah ﷺ first fell ill in the house of Maymunah. His sickness grew severe until he lost consciousness. His wives consulted one another about giving him medicine through the side of his mouth, and they did so.When he regained consciousness, he asked, "Who did this to me?"They said, "Messenger of Allah, we suspected you had pleurisy."He replied, "That is a disease Allah would never afflict me with. Let no one remain in this house without having the medicine forced into their mouth as well, except for the uncle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," meaning Abbas.Maymunah had the medicine administered to her that day, even though she was fasting, because of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ firm command.
Abdul-Razzaq (5/428-429) (9754) narrated it from Mamar, from Zuhri, who said, Abu Bakr bin Abdul-Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham informed me, from Asma bint Umays, who said, and then he mentioned it. Its isnad is sahih. Hafiz also declared it sahih in Fath al-Bari (8/148).
