Abu Bakra reported,

"Time has come full circle to its form on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, four of which are sacred. Three are consecutive, Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, and Muharram, and Rajab of Mudar, which falls between Jumada and Shaban. What month is this?"We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He remained silent until we thought he would give it a different name. Then he said, "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?"We said, "Yes."He said, "What land is this?"We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He remained silent until we thought he would give it a different name. Then he said, "Is it not the Sacred City?"We said, "Yes."He said, "What day is this?"We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He remained silent until we thought he would give it a different name. Then he said, "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?"We said, "Yes."He said, "Your blood and your wealth," Muhammad said, "and I think he said, 'and your honor,' are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this land of yours, in this month of yours. You will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. Do not return after me to misguidance, striking the necks of one another. Let the one present convey to the one absent, for perhaps some of those to whom it is conveyed will retain it better than some who heard it directly."Whenever Muhammad mentioned this, he would say, "Muhammad ﷺ spoke the truth." Then he said, "Have I not conveyed?" twice.

عن أبي بكرة عن النبي ﷺ قال

الزمان قد استدار كهيئة يوم خلق السموات والأرض، السنة اثنا عشر شهرا، منها أربعة حرم ثلاثة متواليات: ذو القعدة وذو الحجة والمحرم، ورجب مضر الذي بين جمادي وشعبان، أي شهر هذا؟ قلنا: الله ورسوله أعلم. فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه قال: أليس ذو الحجة؟ قلنا: بلى. قال: فأي بلد هذا؟ قلنا: الله ورسوله أعلم. فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه، قال: أليس البلدة؟ قلنا: بلى. قال: فأي يوم هذا قلنا الله ورسوله أعلم. فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه، قال: أليس يوم النحر قلنا: بلى. قال: فإن دماءكم وأموالكم- قال محمد: وأحسبه قال: وأعراضكم عليكم حرام، كحرمة يومكم هذا في بلدكم هذا، في شهركم هذا، وستلقون ربكم فسيسألكم عن أعمالكم، ألا فلا ترجعوا بعدي ضلالا يضرب بعضكم رقاب بعض، ألا ليبلغ الشاهد الغائب، فلعل بعض من يبلغه أن يكون أوعي له من بعض من سمعه فكان محمد إذا ذكره يقول: صدق محمد ﷺ ثم قال: ألا هل بلغت؟ مرتين.
