A robe of fine silk brocade was presented as a gift to the Prophet ﷺ, though he used to forbid the wearing of silk. The people marveled at it, so he said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the handkerchiefs of Saad bin Muaz in Paradise are finer than this."In another narration, Ukaydir of Dumat al-Jandal presented a garment as a gift to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
أهدي للنبي ﷺ جبة سندس، وكان ينهى عن الحرير، فعجب الناس منها، فقال: والذي نفس محمد بيده، لمناديل سعد بن معاذ في الجنة أحسن من هذا. وفي رواية: أن أكيدر دومة الجندل أهدى لرسول الله ﷺ حلة.
Bukhari narrated it in "Gifts" (2615), and Muslim in "The Virtues of the Companions" (2469: 127), both through the route of Yunus bin Muhammad, who said, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatada, who said, Anas narrated to us, and he related it.The other narration was reported by Muslim in the same place, from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Salim bin Nuh narrated to us, who said, Umar bin Amir narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas, and he related it.As for Bukhari, he mentioned it as a suspended narration (2616) from Saeed bin Abu Aruba, from Qatada, from Anas, and Ahmad connected it (13148), and its chain of transmission is sahih.
