I jostled against the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Hunayn, and on my foot was a thick sandal. I stepped on the foot of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he struck me a blow with a whip he had in his hand, saying, "In the name of Allah, you have hurt me."I spent the night blaming myself, saying, "I have hurt the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," and I passed a night as Allah knows. When morning came, a man was calling out, "Where is so-and-so?"I said, "By Allah, this is about what I did yesterday."So I went, fearful, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "You stepped on my foot with your sandal yesterday and hurt me, so I struck you a blow with the whip. Here are eighty ewes, take them in compensation for it."
زحمت رسول الله ﷺ يوم حنين، وفي رجلي نعل كثيفة، فوطئت على رجل رسول الله تعالى ﷺ، فنفحني نفحة بسوط في يده، وقال: بسم الله أوجعتني، قال: فبت لنفسي لائما، أقول: أوجعت رسول الله ﷺ فبت بليلة كما يعلم الله، فلما أصبحنا إذا رجل يقول: أين فلان؟ قال: قلت: هذا والله الذي كان مني بالأمس. قال: فانطلقت وأنا متخوف، فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ: إنك وطئت بنعلك على رجلي بالأمس، فأوجعتني، فنفحتك نفحة بالسوط، فهذه ثمانون نعجة فخذها بها.

Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated it, saying, Abdullah bin Abu Bakr told me, from a man from the Arabs, who said, and then he mentioned it.Darimi also narrated it through the route of Ibn Ishaq in his Sunan (73), saying, Muhammad bin Abu Khalaf informed us, Abdul-Rahman bin Muhammad narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, with the same wording.Its isnad is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq, for his hadith is hasan when he states his source explicitly. In Darimi's isnad, Abdul-Rahman bin Muhammad is Ibn Ziyad Muharibi, who is acceptable. He used to practice tadlis, but that does not harm this narration.
