On the day of Hunayn, the people fled from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except for Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib and Abu Sufyan bin Harith. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Abbas to call out, "Companions of Surat al-Baqarah! Assembly of the Ansar!" Then he urged him to direct the call specifically to the Banu Harith bin Khazraj.When they heard the call, they came forward. By Allah, I could compare them to nothing but camels yearning for their young.When the two sides met, the fighting became fierce, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Now the battle has grown hot."Then he ﷺ took a handful of white pebbles, threw them, and said, "By the Lord of the Kaabah, they are defeated."Ali bin Abu Talib was that day the fiercest of the people in fighting before him.
لما كان يوم حنين انهزم الناس عن رسول الله ﷺ إلا العباس بن عبد المطلب، وأبو سفيان بن الحارث، وأمر رسول الله ﷺ العباس أن ينادي: يا أصحاب سورة البقرة! يا معشر الأنصار! ثم استحث النداء في بني الحارث بن الخزرج، فلما سمعوا النداء أقبلوا، فوالله ما شبهتهم إلا الإبل تحن إلى أولادها، فلما التقوا التحم القتال، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: الآن حمي الوطيس وأخذ ﷺ كفا من حصى أبيض، فرمى بها، وقال: هزموا ورب الكعبة وكان علي بن أبي طالب يومئذ أشد الناس قتالا بين يديه.
Abu Yaala (3606) narrated it from Muhammad bin Abu Bakr, who said, Amr bin Asim narrated to us, who said, Abu Awwam narrated to us, from Mamar, from Zuhri, from Anas, who said, and then he mentioned it.Its isnad is hasan because of Abu Awwam, whose name is Imran bin Dawar, with the waw vocalized as fatha followed by a ra, about whom there is disagreement, except that his hadith is hasan when he does not contradict others.
