The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the campaign of the Conquest of Makkah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out with the Muslims who were with him, and they fought at Hunayn. Allah granted victory to His religion and to the Muslims, and on that day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave Safwan bin Umaya a hundred head of livestock, then another hundred, then another hundred.Ibn Shihab said, Saeed bin Musayab told me that Safwan said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me what he gave me, and he was the most hated of people to me. Yet he kept on giving to me until he became the most beloved of people to me."
Muslim narrated it in "The Virtues" (59:2313) from Abu Tahir Ahmad bin Amr bin Sarh, who said, Abdullah bin Wahb told us, Yunus told me, from Ibn Shihab who said, and he mentioned it. The first part of the hadith is mursal, but its ending is musnad from the hadith of Safwan bin Umaya, may Allah be pleased with him.
