The Prophet ﷺ performed all the prayers on the day of the conquest of Mecca with a single ablution and wiped over his leather socks.Umar said to him, "You have done something today that you did not used to do."He replied, "I did it deliberately, Umar."
أن النبي ﷺ صلى الصلوات يوم الفتح بوضوء واحد ومسح على خفيه، فقال له عمر: لقد صنعت اليوم شيئا لم تكن تصنعه؟ قال: عمدا صنعته يا عمر.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Purification (277) through several chains from Sufyan, from Alqama bin Marthad, from Sulayman bin Burayda, from his father, and he related it.Ibn Majah (510) and Ibn Khuzayma (13) both narrated it through the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, from Muharib bin Dithar, from Ibn Burayda, from his father, who said, "The Messenger of Allah used to perform wudu for every prayer, except on the day of the conquest of Makkah, when he was occupied, so he combined Dhuhr and Asr with a single wudu."The wording given here is that of Ibn Khuzayma, who said, "Rare, rare," meaning that the well known version is the one transmitted through Sufyan Thawri, from Alqama bin Marthad, as found in Muslim.
