The Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah on the day of the Conquest wearing a helmet on his head. When he removed it, a man came to him and said, "Ibn Khatal is clinging to the covering of the Kaabah."He said, "Kill him."Malik said, "It appears, and Allah knows best, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not in a state of ihram on that day."
Malik narrated it in Hajj (247), from Ibn Shihab, from Anas bin Malik, who said, and he mentioned it. Bukhari also narrated it in Maghazi (4286), and Muslim in Hajj (45:1357), both of them through Malik's route, with the same chain.
