The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people while wearing a black turban.
أن رسول الله ﷺ خطب الناس وعليه عمامة سوداء.
Muslim reported it in the book of Hajj (1359) through two routes from Waki, from Musawir Warraq, from Jafar bin Amr bin Hurayth, from his father, and mentioned it. He also reported it through a third route from Abu Usama, from Musawir Warraq, and in it, "It is as if I am looking at the Messenger of Allah on the pulpit, wearing a black turban whose end he had let hang down between his shoulders."Nasai (5343) reported it through a fourth route from Sufyan, from Musawir Warraq, and in it, "a scorched turban." A "scorched" turban is one the color of what fire has burned, meaning black.There is no contradiction between the presence of the helmet on the head and the turban, for the helmet was worn over the turban.
