Bukhari narrated it in Maghazi (4258) from Musa bin Ismail, who said, Wahib narrated to us, who said, Ayub narrated to us, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.Ibn Ishaq said, Abu Aban bin Salih and Abdullah bin Abu Najeeh narrated to me, from Ata bin Abu Rabah and Mujahid Abu Hajjaj, from Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Maymuna bint Harith during that journey of his while he was in the state of ihram, and the one who gave her to him in marriage was Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib.Ibn Hisham said, she had placed the matter of her marriage in the hands of her sister, Umm Fadl, and Umm Fadl was married to Abbas, so Umm Fadl placed the matter in the hands of Abbas, who then gave her in marriage to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Makkah, and he paid her dowry on behalf of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, four hundred dirhams. Sirat bin Hisham (2/372).Saeed bin Musayab said, Ibn Abbas was mistaken about the marriage to Maymuna taking place while he was in the state of ihram. Abu Dawud narrated this (1845) from a man, from Ibn Musayab.Ibn Ishaq said, a trustworthy source narrated to us from Saeed bin Musayab that he said, this is Abdullah bin Abbas claiming that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Makkah and that his release from ihram and the marriage happened together, and this confused people about the matter.Bayhaqi narrated it in Dalail (4/336) by way of Yunus bin Bukayr, from Ibn Ishaq.This is the view of the majority of the scholars, that he married her after he had been released from ihram following the Umrah, and this is also the account of the intermediary between her and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was Abu Rafi, since it would be unlikely that the Prophet ﷺ would enter Makkah to perform the Umrah and then, before finishing his Umrah, occupy himself with getting married.
