A Jewish woman presented the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a poisoned sheep. He sent for her and asked, "What led you to do what you did?"She replied, "I wanted, if you were a prophet, that Allah would inform you of it, and if you were not a prophet, that the people would be relieved of you."Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ felt any effect from that poison, he would have himself cupped. Once he traveled, and when he entered the state of ihram he felt something of it, so he had himself cupped.
Imam Ahmad (2784) narrated it from Siraj, who said, Abbad narrated to us, from Hilal, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Hilal, who is Ibn Khabab Abdi, their freedman, for he is hasan al-hadith, and Ibn Hibban criticized him without evidence.
