Ibn Shihab said, When the Emigrants arrived in Medina from Mecca, they had nothing in their hands, while the Ansar were the people of land and property. So the Ansar made an arrangement with them that they would give them half of the fruits of their estates each year, in return for which the Emigrants would spare them the labor and upkeep of the land.Anas's mother, who was called Umm Sulaym and was the mother of Abdullah bin Abu Talha (Anas's maternal brother), had given the Messenger of Allah ﷺ some date palms of hers. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then gave them to his freedwoman Umm Ayman, the mother of Usama bin Zayd.Ibn Shihab said, Anas bin Malik told me that when the Prophet ﷺ finished fighting the people of Khaybar and returned to Medina, the Emigrants returned to the Ansar the gifts of fruit-bearing trees they had received from them. The Prophet ﷺ returned to his mother her date palms, and gave Umm Ayman date palms in their place from his own grove.Ibn Shihab said, As for Umm Ayman, the mother of Usama bin Zayd, she had been a young servant of Abdullah bin Abdul-Muttalib and was of Abyssinian origin. When Aminah gave birth to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, after his father had passed away, Umm Ayman cared for him until he grew up. He then freed her and married her to Zayd bin Haritha. She died five months after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away.
قال: لما قدم المهاجرون المدينة من مكة وليس بأيديهم شيء وكانت الأنصار أهل الأرض والعقار، فقاسمهم الأنصارعلى أن أعطوهم أنصاف شمار أموالهم كل عام ويكفوهم العمل والمتونة، وكانت أم أنس وهي تدعى أم سليم وكانت أم عبد الله ابن أبي طلحة، كان أخا لأنس لأمه، وكانت أعطت أم أنس رسول الله ﷺ عذاقا لها، فأعطاهن رسول الله ﷺ أم أيمن مولاته أم أسامة بن زيد. قال ابن شهاب فأخبرني أنس بن مالك أن النبي ﷺ لما فرغ من قتل أهل خيبر وانصرف إلى المدينة، رد المهاجرون إلى الأنصار منائحهم التي كانوا منحوهم من لمارهم فرد النبي ﷺ إلى أمه عذاقها، وأعطى رسول الله ﷺ أم أيمن مكانهن من حائطه. قال ابن شهاب: وكان من شأن أم أيمن أم أسامة بن زيد، أنها كانت وصيفة لعبد الله بن عبد المطلب، وكانت من الحبشة، فلما ولدت آمنة رسول الله ﷺ، بعدما توفي أبوه، فكانت أم أيمن تحضنه، حتى كبر رسول الله ﷺ، فأعتقها، ثم أنكحها زيد بن حارثة، ثم توفيت بعد ما توفي رسول الله ﷺ بخمسة أشهر.
