Jubayr bin Mutim reported, "Uthman bin Affan and I walked together to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'You have given to the sons of Muttalib from the fifth of Khaybar's spoils, yet you have left us out, even though we and they stand in the same relation to you.'He replied, 'The sons of Hashim and the sons of Muttalib are but one.'"Jubayr added, "The Prophet ﷺ did not allot anything from it to the sons of Abd Shams or to the sons of Nawfal."
Bukhari related it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4229), from Yahya bin Bukayr, who said, Layth narrated to us, from Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab, that Jubayr bin Mutim informed him, and he mentioned it. In it he said, "Banu Hashim and Banu Muttalib are but one thing." This contains an allusion to the pact made by Quraysh and Kinanah to boycott Banu Hashim and Banu Muttalib, agreeing not to marry them or trade with them until they handed over the Prophet ﷺ to them, as recorded in the Sahihayn, Bukhari (1590) and Muslim (1314).
