Abdullah bin Umar said, "Zubayr, Miqdad bin Aswad, and I went out to our properties in Khaybar to look after them. When we arrived, we each went off to attend to our own land. During the night, while I was asleep on my bed, someone attacked me and dislocated my arms at the elbows. When morning came, I called out for my two companions. They came to me and asked who had done this to me, but I said, 'I do not know.'"He continued, "They set my arms right, then took me to Umar. Umar said, 'This is the work of the Jews.' He then stood to address the people and said, 'People, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made an agreement with the Jews of Khaybar stipulating that we could expel them whenever we wished. Now they have attacked Abdullah bin Umar and dislocated his arms, as has reached you, in addition to their earlier attack on the Ansari man. We have no doubt that they are the perpetrators, for there is no one else there besides them. So whoever has property in Khaybar, let him go to it, for I am going to expel the Jews.'"Then he expelled them.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (3007) from Imam Ahmad, and it is in his Musnad (90), from Yaqub bin Ibrahim, who said, my father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said, Nafi, the freedman of Abdullah bin Umar, narrated to me, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he related it. The wording is Ahmad's, while Abu Dawud abridged it to Umar's statement, "O people, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ employed the Jews of Khaybar on the condition that we could expel them whenever we wished. So whoever has property there, let him go and collect it, for I am going to expel the Jews." Then he expelled them. Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq.Waqidi said, when Umar came to power he expelled the Jews of Khaybar and Fadak, but he did not expel the people of Tayma and Wadi Qura, because those two lie within the territory of Syria. It is held that whatever lies short of Wadi Qura, toward Madinah, is Hijaz, and whatever lies beyond that is Syria. Maghazi Waqidi (2/712).
