Hudaybiyah, his companions said, "This is pleasant and welcome for you, but what do we get?" So Allah revealed, "that He may admit the believing men and the believing women into gardens" [Fath 48:5].Shuba said, "I came to Kufa and related all of this from Qatada. Then I went back and mentioned it to him, and he said, 'As for "Indeed, We have granted you victory" [Fath 48:1], that is from Anas, and as for the words about it being pleasant and welcome, that is from Ikrima.'"
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4172), from Ahmad bin Ishaq, who said, Uthman bin Umar narrated to us, Shuba informed us, from Qatada, from Anas, who said, then he mentioned it.Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Jihad (1786:97) through another route, from Saeed bin Abu Aruba, from Qatada, that Anas bin Malik told them, saying, "When "Indeed, We have given you a clear victory, that Allah may forgive you... to His saying... a great triumph" [Fath 48:1–5] was revealed, on his return from Hudaybiya, while sorrow and gloom had overtaken them, and he had already sacrificed the offering animals at Hudaybiya, he said, 'A verse has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than the entire world.'"The truce of Hudaybiya was a cause of the conquest of Makkah, because this truce did not last more than seven or eighteen months, since Quraysh helped their allies, Banu Bakr, against Khuza, the allies of the Muslims, as will come in the account of the conquest of Makkah.
