Mughira bin Shuba reported that he was standing at the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a sword, his face covered, while Urwa was present with the Prophet ﷺ. Urwa kept reaching out to take hold of the Prophet's beard as he spoke with him.Mughira said to Urwa, "Keep your hand away from his beard, or it will not return to you."Urwa asked, "Who is this?"He was told, "This is your nephew, Mughira bin Shuba."Urwa said, "You treacherous one, have you not yet washed away the stain of your treachery?"
أنه كان قائما على رأس رسول الله ﷺ بالسيف وهو ملثم وعنده عروة قال: فجعل عروة يتناول لحية النبي ﷺ ويحدثه قال: فقال المغيرة لعروة: لتكفن يدك عن لحيته أو لا ترجع إليك قال: فقال عروة: من هذا؟ قال: هذا ابن أخيك المغيرة بن شعبة، فقال عروة: يا غدر ما غسلت رأسك من غدرتك بعد.

Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba narrated it, as found in Matalib "2116", and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih "4583", through the route of Waki, from Ismail bin Abu Khalid, from Qays bin Abu Hazim, from Mughira bin Shuba, who mentioned it. The wording is from Ibn Hibban, and its isnad is sahih.
