The Prophet ﷺ said, "My intercession is for those of my nation who commit major sins."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: شفاعتي لأهل الكبائر من أمتي.
Reported by Abu Dawud (4739), Tirmidhi (2435), Ahmad (13222), Ibn Khuzayma in Tawheed (527), Ibn Hibban (6468), and Hakim (1/69), all of them through various routes from Anas bin Malik, who related it.Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih ghareeb."Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criterion of the two Shaykhs [Bukhari and Muslim]."As for his saying, "My intercession is for the people of major sins," what he meant by this is the intercession that comes after the greatest intercession, the one that encompasses all Muslims. This particular intercession is for those believers who were admitted into the Fire because of sins and wrongs they had committed, which Allah did not forgive for them in this world, so they are brought out of the Fire through his intercession ﷺ.Ibn Khuzayma mentioned it (2/577).
