They were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Hudaybiyyah, numbering one thousand four hundred or more. They camped beside a well and drew from it until it ran dry. They came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who went to the well and sat on its edge.Then he said, "Bring me a bucket of its water."It was brought to him, and he spat into it and made supplication. Then he said, "Leave it for a while."So they quenched their own thirst and that of their mounts until they departed.
أنهم كانوا مع رسول الله ﷺ يوم الحديبية ألفا وأربع مائة أو أكثر، فنزلوا على بئر فنزحوها، فأتوا رسول الله ﷺ، فأتي البئر وقعد على شفيرها، ثم قال: ائتوني بدلو من مائها فأتي به، فبصق فدعا ثم قال: دعوها ساعة فأرووا أنفسهم وركابهم حتى ارتحلوا.
Bukhari narrated it in Maghazi (4151) from Fadl bin Yaqub, he said, Hasan bin Muhammad bin Ayan Abu Ali Harrani narrated to us, he said, Zuhayr narrated to us, he said, Abu Ishaq narrated to us, he said, Bara bin Azib informed us, and he related it.
