I was kindling a fire under the cooking pot with donkey meat when the announcer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbids you from eating donkey meat."
إني لأوقد تحت القدر بلحوم الحمر، إذ نادى منادي رسول الله ﷺ: إن رسول الله ﷺ ينهاكم عن لحوم الحمر.
Bukhari narrated it in Al-Maghazi (4173) from Abdullah bin Muhammad, who said, Abu Amir narrated to us, (he is Abdul-Malik bin Amr Aqdi), who said, Israil narrated to us, from Mujazza bin Zahir Aslami, from his father, who said, and then he related it.His saying, "I was lighting a fire under the pot with the meat of donkeys," refers to the day of Khaybar.Bukhari said (4174), and from Mujazza, from a man among them from the companions of the tree, named Ahban bin Aws, who had a complaint in his knee, and when he prostrated he would place a cushion under his knee. This is connected to the preceding chain of transmission.
