The Prophet ﷺ said, "Some will be brought out of the Fire through intercession, as if they were taarir."I asked, "What are taarir?"He replied, "Daghabis." His mouth had become toothless by then.I said to Amr bin Dinar, "Abu Muhammad, did you hear Jabir bin Abdullah say, 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say that some will be brought out of the Fire through intercession?'"He answered, "Yes."
Bukhari related it in the Chapter on Softening of Hearts (6558), and Muslim in the Chapter on Faith (191:318), both from Hammad bin Zayd, from Amr bin Dinar, from Jabir, who narrated something similar. The wording given here is Bukhari's. Muslim's version does not contain "as if they were al-taarir" or its explanation. As for "al-daghabis," these are small cucumbers, the singular of which is daghbus, though other explanations have also been given. An account of this story has also come through another route, which Muslim recorded, and it follows next.
