The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever ascends the pass, the pass of Murar, will have removed from him what was removed from the Children of Israil."He said, the first to ascend it were our horsemen, the cavalry of Banu Khazraj, then the people went to sleep.
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من يصعد الثنية ثنية المرار، فإنه يحط عنه ما حط عن بني إسرائيل. قال: فكان أول من صعدها خيلنا خيل بني الخزرج، ثم نام الناس.
Reported by Muslim in the chapter on the characteristics of the hypocrites (12:2880), from Ubaydullah bin Muaz Anbari, from his father, from Qurra bin Khalid, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who related it.Ibn Shihab said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded the people, saying, "Take the path to the right, through the middle of the thicket, along a route that will bring you out at Thaniyyat al-Marar, descending into Hudaybiya from the lower side of Makkah." Ibn Ishaq mentioned this in Sirat bin Hisham (2/310), explaining that this was done to avoid the cavalry of the polytheists.
