Aishah said, "None of their women, meaning the women of Banu Qurayzah, were killed except one. She was right beside me, talking and laughing heartily, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was putting their men to the sword. Suddenly someone called out her name, 'Where is so-and-so?'She said, 'Here I am.'I asked her, 'What is the matter with you?'She replied, 'Something I did.'She was then taken away and beheaded. What I will never forget about her is how astonishing she was, laughing heartily even though she knew she was about to be killed."
Reported by Abu Dawud (2671) and Ahmad (26364), and Hakim graded it sahih (3/35-36), and from him Bayhaqi (9/82), all of them through routes going back to Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said, Muhammad bin Jafar bin Zubayr narrated to me, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it, and it is in Sirat bin Hisham (2/242). Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq, for his hadith is hasan when he states his source explicitly. Hakim said, this is a sahih hadith meeting the criteria of Muslim. It is said that the incident she referred to is that she threw a millstone on Khallad bin Suwayd and killed him, as Ibn Hisham stated, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had her killed. The story of Khallad bin Suwayd is as reported from Abdul-Khubayr bin Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas, from his father, from his grandfather, who said, a woman came to the Prophet ﷺ, called Umm Khallad, wearing a face-veil, asking about her son, who had been killed. Some of the companions of the Prophet said to her, "You have come asking about your son while you are wearing a face-veil?" She said, "If I have been afflicted with the loss of my son, I will not be afflicted with the loss of my modesty." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your son is a martyr, and he has the reward of two martyrs." She said, "Why is that, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Because the People of the Book killed him."In another version, on the day of Qurayza a man from the Ansar named Khallad was killed, then he mentioned something similar. Reported by Abu Dawud (2488), and through his route Bayhaqi (9/175), from Abdul-Rahman bin Sallam, Hajjaj bin Muhammad narrated to us, from Faraj bin Fadala, from Abdul-Khubayr bin Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas, from his father, from his grandfather, and he mentioned it.Abu Yaala reported it (1591) through the route of Faraj with the chain mentioned, and in his version it is Abdul-Khubayr bin Qays bin Thabit bin Shammas, and the second version belongs to him. In its chain is Faraj bin Fadala, who is daif. It also contains Abdul-Khubayr bin Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas, as it came in the version of Abu Dawud, and he is Abdul-Khubayr bin Qays bin Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas Ansari. Bukhari said, his hadith is not sound. Abu Hatim said, his hadith is unrecognized, his hadith is not sound. As for his father, Qays bin Thabit bin Qays, no one deemed him reliable, and Dhahabi said, I have not seen anyone narrate from him except his son Abdul-Khubayr. Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas, the grandfather of Abdul-Khubayr, is a well-known companion.
