I was among the captives of Banu Qurayzah. They would examine us, and whoever had grown pubic hair was killed, while whoever had not was spared. I was among those who had not yet grown any.
كنت من سبي بني قريظة، فكانوا ينظرون، فمن أنبت الشعر قتل، ومن لم ينبت لم يقتل، فكنت فيمن لم ينبت.
Abu Dawud (4404, 4405), Tirmidhi (1584), Nasai (4981, 3430), Ibn Majah (2541, 2542), and Ahmad (18766) all narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (4780, 4783, 4788) and Hakim (2/123 and 3/135) both graded it sahih. All of them transmitted it through various routes from Abdul-Malik bin Umayr, who said, "Atiya al-Qurazi narrated to me," then mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."Hakim said, "The chain of transmission is sahih."
