I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, when the Confederates withdrew from him, "Now we will march against them, and they will not march against us. We will advance toward them."
سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول حين أجلي الأحزاب عنه: الآن نغزوهم، ولا يغزوننا نحن نسير إليهم.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4110) from Abdullah bin Muhammad, who said, Yahya bin Adam narrated to us, who said, Israil narrated to us, who said, I heard Abu Ishaq say, I heard Sulayman bin Surad say, and then he mentioned it.His words, "when the confederates withdrew from him," mean they turned back from him. In this there is one of the signs of prophethood ﷺ, for he performed umrah the following year, and Quraysh prevented him from reaching the House, and a truce was made between them until they broke it, and that became the cause of the conquest of Makkah. So the matter happened just as he had said ﷺ.See Fath al-Bari (7/405).
