I have not forgotten his words on the Day of the Trench, as he was handing them the bricks and the hair on his chest had become covered in dust. He was saying, "O Allah, the true good is the good of the Hereafter, so forgive the Ansar and the Muhajirun."Then he saw Ammar and said, "Alas for you, son of Sumayy. The transgressing party will kill you."I mentioned this to Muhammad, meaning Ibn Sirin, and he asked, "From his mother?"I said, "Yes. She used to keep close company with her and visit her often."
Ahmad (26482) and Abu Yaala (1645) both narrated it from the hadith of Ibn Awn, from Hasan, from his mother, from Umm Salama, and he related it. The wording is that of Ahmad. In Abu Yaala's version, Ibn Awn said, "I related the hadith to Muhammad from his mother, and he said, 'She used to visit Umm Salama.'"Hasan's mother's name was Khayrah, the freedwoman of Umm Salama. Muslim narrated from her the account of the killing of Ammar, which will come in its proper place. However, Hafiz said in Taqrib, "Acceptable." I say, she is "truthful." A group of narrators reported from her, Ibn Hibban deemed her reliable, and Muslim included her narrations in his collection.
