The Prophet ﷺ burned the date palms of Banu Nadir. Hassan bin Thabit composed these lines about it,"The nobles of Banu Luayy thought little of the spreading blaze at Buwayrah."Abu Sufyan bin Harith answered him,"May Allah perpetuate this deed, and may the flames burn fiercely in its outskirts. You will come to know which of us is far removed from it, and which of our lands suffers harm."
Bukhari narrated it in al-Maghazi (4032) from Ishaq, Habban informed us, Juwayria bin Asma informed us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it.Muslim narrated it (30:1746) through another route from Nafi, the saying of Hassan bin Thabit. He said, "Regarding that, it was revealed, "Whatever palm trees you have cut down or left standing on their roots, it was by permission of Allah" [Hashr 59:5]."His word "our two lands" is in the dual form, meaning the land of Banu Nadir and the land of the Ansar. His word "nazah" means distance. His word "tadheer" means harm.
