Anas reported that a man used to give the Prophet ﷺ some palm trees from his land, until Allah granted him victory over Qurayzah and Nadir, after which the Prophet ﷺ began returning to people what they had given him.Anas said, "My family instructed me to go to the Prophet ﷺ and ask him for what they had given him, or some of it. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ had given those palm trees to Umm Ayman. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ and he gave them to me. Then Umm Ayman came and put a garment around my neck and said, 'By Allah, we will not give them to you, for he has already given them to me.'"The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Umm Ayman, let him have them and you shall have such and such in return."She replied, "No, by the One besides whom there is no god!"He kept offering more until he gave her ten times the amount, or close to ten times.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4120), and Muslim in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions (71:1771), both through Mutamir bin Sulayman, from his father, from Anas, who mentioned it. Its details are as given in the following hadith.
