Abu Bakr reported,

The narrator said: One morning the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rose and prayed the dawn prayer, then sat. When the forenoon came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed, and he remained sitting in his place until he had prayed the noon prayer, then Asr, then Maghrib, all without speaking a word, until he prayed the final night prayer. Then he got up and went to his family.The people said to Abu Bakr, "Will you not ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what is the matter with him? Today he did something he has never done before."So Abu Bakr asked him, and he replied, "Yes. There was shown to me all that is to come of the affair of this world and the affair of the Hereafter. The first and the last were gathered on a single plain, and the people were overwhelmed with dread, so much so that they set off to Adam while the sweat nearly reached their mouths like a bridle.They said, "Adam, you are the father of mankind, and Allah chose you. Intercede for us with your Lord."He said, "I have met with the same thing you have met with. Go to the father who came after your father, go to Nuh." "Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Nuh and the family of Ibrahim and the family of Imran above all people" [Al Imran 3:33]So they go to Nuh and say, "Intercede for us with your Lord, for Allah chose you and answered your supplication and did not leave a single one of the disbelievers upon the earth."He says, "That is not for me to do. Go to Ibrahim , for Allah took him as an intimate friend."So they go to Ibrahim, and he says, "That is not for me to do. Go rather to Musa , for Allah spoke to him directly."Musa says, "That is not for me to do. Go rather to Isa the son of Maryam, for he healed the blind and the leper and raised the dead."Isa says, "That is not for me to do. Go rather to the master of the children of Adam, for he is the first for whom the earth will split open on the Day of Resurrection. Go to Muhammad ﷺ, and he will intercede for you with your Lord ."The Prophet ﷺ continued, "So he sets off, and Jibreel comes to his Lord, and Allah says, 'Grant him permission, and give him the good news of Paradise.'Then Jibreel goes with him, and he falls prostrate for the length of a week, and Allah says, 'Raise your head, Muhammad. Speak, and you will be heard. Intercede, and your intercession will be granted.'So he raises his head, and when he looks upon his Lord he falls prostrate again for the length of another week, and Allah says, 'Raise your head. Speak, and you will be heard. Intercede, and your intercession will be granted.'Then he goes to fall prostrate once more, but Jibreel takes hold of him by his upper arms, and Allah opens for him such words of supplication as He has never opened for any human being before.He says, 'My Lord, You created me the master of the children of Adam, and I say this without boasting, and the first for whom the earth will split open on the Day of Resurrection, and I say this without boasting.' And there come to the pond more people than would fill the distance between Sanaa and Ayla.Then it is said, 'Call the truthful ones,' and they intercede. Then it is said, 'Call the prophets.' So a prophet comes with a band of people with him, and a prophet with five or six, and a prophet with no one at all with him.Then it is said, 'Call the martyrs,' and they intercede for whomever they wish. And when the martyrs have done that, Allah says, 'I am the Most Merciful of the merciful. Admit into My Paradise everyone who never associated anything with Me.' So they enter Paradise.Then Allah says, 'Look into the Fire. Do you find anyone in it who ever did any good?' They find a man in the Fire, and he is asked, 'Did you ever do any good?'He says, 'No, except that I used to be lenient with people in buying and selling.'So Allah says, 'Be lenient with My servant, just as he was lenient with My servants.'Then they bring out another man from the Fire, and he is asked, 'Did you ever do any good?'He says, 'No, except that I instructed my children that when I died they should burn me in fire, then grind me up, and when I was as fine as kohl, take me to the sea and scatter me in the wind, for by Allah, the Lord of the worlds would never have power over me.'Allah says, 'Why did you do that?'He says, 'Out of fear of You.'So Allah says, 'Look at the greatest kingdom, for you shall have the like of it and ten times its like.'He says, 'Are You mocking me, when You are the King?'"The Prophet ﷺ said, "And that is what I was laughing at in the forenoon."

عن أبي بكر الصديق

قال أصبح رسول الله ﷺ ذات يوم فصلى الغداة، ثم جلس حتى إذا كان من الضحى ضحك رسول الله ﷺ ثم جلس مكانه حتى صلى الأولى والعصر والمغرب كل ذلك لا يتكلم حتى صلى العشاء الآخرة، ثم قام إلى أهله، فقال الناس لأبي بكر: ألا تسأل رسول الله له ما شأنه صنع اليوم شيئا لم يصنعه قط، قال: فسأله فقال: نعم، عرض على ما هو كائن من أمر الدنيا وأمر الآخرة فجمع الأولون والآخرون بصعيد واحد ففظع الناس بذلك حتى انطلقوا إلى آدم عليه السلام والعرق يكاد يلجمهم، فقالوا: يا آدم أنت أبو البشر وأنت اصطفاك الله عز وجل، اشفع لنا إلى ربك. قال: لقد لقيت مثل الذي لقيتم انطلقوا إلى أبيكم بعد أبيكم إلى نوح {إن الله اصطفي ءادم ونوحا وءال إبراهيم وءال عمران على العلمين} [سورة آل عمران: ٣٣] قال: فينطلقون إلى نوح عليه السلام فيقولون: اشفع لنا إلى ربك، فأنت اصطفاك الله واستجاب لك في دعائك ولم يدع على الأرض من الكافرين ديارا، فيقول ليس ذاكم عندي انطلقوا إلى إبراهيم عليه السلام فإن الله عز وجل اتخذه خليلا. فينطلقون إلى إبراهيم فيقول: ليس ذاكم عندي، ولكن انطلقوا إلى موسى عليه السلام فإن الله عز وجل كلمه تكليما، فيقول موسى عليه السلام: ليس ذاكم عندي ولكن انطلقوا إلى عيسى ابن مريم فإنه يبرئ الأكمه والأبرص ويحيى الموتي. فيقول عيسى: ليس ذاكم عندي، ولكن انطلقوا إلى سيد ولد آدم، فإنه أول من تنشق عنه الأرض يوم القيامة، انطلقوا إلى محمد ﷺ فيشفع لكم إلى ربكم عز وجل. قال: فينطلق فيأتي جبريل عليه السلام ربه، فيقول الله عز وجل: ائذن له وبشره بالجنة. قال: فينطلق به جبريل فيخر ساجدا قدر جمعة، ويقول الله عز وجل: ارفع رأسك يا محمد، وقل يسمع واشفع تشفع، قال: فيرفع رأسه، فإذا نظر إلى ربه عز وجل خر ساجدا قدر جمعة أخري، فيقول الله عز وجل ارفع رأسك، وقل يسمع، واشفع تشفع. قال: فيذهب ليقع ساجدا فيأخذ جبريل عليه السلام بضبعيه فيفتح الله عز وجل عليه من الدعاء شيئا لم يفتحه على بشرقط. فيقول: أي رب خلقتني سيد ولد آدم ولا فخر، وأول من تنشق عنه الأرض يوم القيامة ولا فخر، حتى إنه ليرد على الحوض أكثر مما بين صنعاء وأيلة. ثم يقال: ادعوا الصديقين فيشفعون، ثم يقال: ادعوا الأنبياء، قال: فيجيء النبي ومعه العصابة، والنبي ومعه الخمسة والستة، والنبي وليس معه أحد. ثم يقال: أدعوا الشهداء فيشفعون لمن أرادوا. وقال: فإذا فعلت الشهداء ذلك. قال: يقول الله عز وجل: أنا أرحم الراحمين، أدخلوا جنتي من كان لا يشرك بي شيئا. قال: فيدخلون الجنة. قال: ثم يقول الله عز وجل: انظروا في النار، هل تلقون من أحد عمل خيرا قط، قال: فيجدون في النار رجلا فيقول له هل عملت خيرا قط؟ فيقول: لا غير أني كنت أسامح الناس في البيع والشراء. فيقول الله عز وجل: اسمحوا لعبدي كإسماحه إلى عبيدي. ثم يخرجون من النار رجلا فيقول له: هل عملت خيرا قط؟ فيقول: لا غير أني قد أمرت ولدى إذا مت فأحرقوني بالنار ثم اطحنوني، حتى إذا كنت مثل الكحل فاذهبوا بي إلى البحر فاذروني في الريح، فوالله لا يقدر علي رب العالمين أبدا، فقال الله عز وجل: لم فعلت ذلك؟ قال: من مخافتك. قال: فيقول الله عز وجل: انظر إلى ملك أعظم ملك فإن لك مثله وعشرة أمثاله. قال: فيقول: لم تسخر بي وأنت الملك؟ قال: وذاك الذي ضحكت منه من الضحى.
