The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Severe is the wrath of Allah upon a people who did this to His Prophet," pointing to his front tooth. "Severe is the wrath of Allah upon a man whom the Messenger of Allah kills in the path of Allah."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: اشتد غضب الله على قوم فعلوا بنبيه- يشير إلى رباعيته- اشتد غضب الله على رجل يقتله رسول الله في سبيل الله.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4073), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions (1793:106), both of them through Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Mamar narrated to us, from Hammam bin Munabbih, who heard Abu Hurairah say, and he mentioned it.
