Abu Talha said, "Drowsiness overcame us while we were in our ranks on the day of Uhud. My sword kept falling from my hand, and I would pick it up, and it would fall again, and I would pick it up once more."
أن أبا طلحة قال: غشينا النعاس، ونحن في مصافنا يوم أحد، قال: فجعل سيفي يسقط من يدي، وآخذه ويسقط وآخذه.
Bukhari related it in tafsir (4562) from Ishaq bin Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman Abu Yaqub, who said, Husayn bin Muhammad narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatada, Anas bin Malik narrated to us, and he related it.Tirmidhi related it (3007) through the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, from Thabit, from Anas, from Abu Talha, who said, "I raised my head on the day of Uhud and began to look around, and there was not one of them that day who was not swaying beneath his shield from drowsiness." This is the meaning of His statement, Mighty and Majestic, "Then after distress He sent down upon you security, a slumber" [Al Imran 3:154]. He said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."
